long, but I need help

ok tonight my car started acten up, then the check light came on, i looked and it was a code 8, so i retarted my timeing and it was fine, less then a qtr mile later flashed back on with a code 4 and 8, so i re adjusted the time and didnt know what 4 was, so i went on, by the time i got home, less then 2 miles, timeing was off again, i had to pull the pistons back because the dizzy is all the way foward, i think the tdc problem is my tentioner being lose, sound right? if not what? and what/how do i fix a crank angle sencor, where do i even look? i realize under the hood, also friday i got a code 8 and 16, i fixed the 8 (tonight makes it 4 times in 3 days) and the 16 went away with the pull of a bat cable, so what do i do? sorry its so long

Re: long, but I need help

when i bought the car it didnt run due to the tentioner being lose, what happend was as the moter turned the belt skipped a few teeth, so when all was ligned up tdc was one full turn off of the mark lines on the end of the cam, could this have happend again, just not bad enough yet to kill the car, and be causen a crank angle sencor? and scared to ask but if i need a new dizzy, how much am i looken to drop, i just put 45 into a new blower moter for the heater, and now this... anything else while im at it?

Re: long, but I need help

well with all its history. i would put your motor back to tdc and see if the marks line up.

now since this happened before im assuming you made sure the tensioner was torqued down all the way right ? if you did and it came loose again, i would look to see if hte bolt is stripped out or something because it shouldnt come loose

Re: long, but I need help

brought it back up, re adjusted the dizzy, had to move the bottum end abt one qtr of a turn, and im back running strong again, the bolt wasnt stripped on the tentioner, but to losen it the first time i put some pb break lose on it, and i think its causing my slippage problem fromo time to time, thanks to every one on suck a quick responce
