95 V6 dumping fuel ARGH

my 3.4 v6 with flomasters and hollow cat, decided it wanted to run rich one night, i figured it was just a cold start issue cuz it idled rough, but it never smoothed out. the car shudders up until 3k rpm and i can watch my fuel gauge drop as i drive a few miles, there is a slight scent of gas in my oil, im not sure if the plugs are fouled, the car is running horribly rich, can anyone help me troubleshoot, im way too far from dad's shop and i dont trust any places around here yet.

Re: 95 V6 dumping fuel ARGH

If theres gas in your oil then its definatly flooding.. When you get the problem solved, it wouldnt be a bad idea to change your oil..
if it did run rich for whatever reason, it probably fouled the plugs.. You could also have a bad 02 sensor or weak ignition componant (coil, plug wire, etc)

Is your engine light on?

Re: 95 V6 dumping fuel ARGH

yes it comes on now and then, i had it checked by a diag comp, and no errors registered, i had remote start installed cuz its cold around here but it never ever ever hassled me before, all of a sudden in one start it crapped out, it could be ignition cuz when the car starts, it revs itself up to like 2500 in park...

Re: 95 V6 dumping fuel ARGH

Chevy_chic, if your engine light is comin on, and its tellin' you theres an EGR fault.. Than the first thing I would do was check the valve and its componants..
Yes, there are many other possibilities that would throw an EGR code, (what code are you getting exactly?) But you should eliminate the EGR as a possibility before you start looking elsewhere..

95v6roxme, You mentioned you had a remote starter, and that it crapped out.. Did this happen at roughly the same time?? Ive seen it a million times A malfuntioning remote starter wreaking havoc on a cars electrical system.. A remote starter is wired up to just about every electrical circuit in your car... (lights, ignition, transmission, starting, etc.)
Personally I would never use one in my car.. Just my winter beaters..

no, the remote starter works just fine, its how the car idles and runs up till 3k rpm that is rough and it has to be from too much fuel being fed into the system, im afraid i have to go to a local shop :-\
im glad i know my car well enough that they cannot give me the runaround.
