water temp

When I tow at 4000 lb trailer with my E150 my water temp increases from the bottom of the 'M' in NORMAL to mid- 'A'. Is this normal ? It has a new radiator (<1yr). What should I look at.

Thanks
Bill

Sounds okay to me, when you're towing you're bound to build up a little extra engine temp, I wouldn't worry.

Re: water temp

Is your vehicle equipped with a towing package rated for that load?

If not, a better radiator and fan clutch, along with an extra ATF cooler is REQUIRED.

It has the tow package and the load is about 1/2 the rating.
Speaking of Trans temp. I want to add a Trans temp gauge. Where should I install it?

Thanks

Re: water temp

Trans temp sender should be in the pan. MAX temp you want to see is 180*F for ATF if you want it to live a long happy life.

Caffie2,

The van you have does not, as I recall even have a water control valve, it uses a "blend door" to mix hot and cold to the desired result. The problem could be either the cable is broken or bent, or that the door seals are badly deteriorated, and you are simply getting too much cold air leaking thru it.
