Unhappy ECU Tuner for 97?

A while back, when I was mounting a switch in my car I noticed a spot to plug into the cars ECU, is there some programmer on the market made for this car at all or would I have to go to some kind of car shop to get the thing re-tuned?

That is a diagnostic port for the car's ECM. I contacted Hypertech. They make a product called the Power Programmer. It reflashes the ECM to upgrade things like shift points, shift firmness, thottle response, top speed goverenor, speedometer readings, coolant fan temperature. They make them for a wide array of vehicles. When I called however they said there was not a big enough demand to produce one for the Malibu. Mabe if enough of us started asking they might consider it.

Check it out at http://www.hypertech.com/programmer.html
