Borla Catback

Right now im looking for a decently priced catback exhaust. I have a 97 GSX with no other mods. I like the Borla Catback since my friend has one on his f-150 and its pretty nice. What other brands are good and my main question is what brand/type of exhaust should I get that isnt too loud. I want one that dosent sound stock but not one thats obnoxious. Sorry if I didnt look hard enough for a thread on this. Thanks for the feedback~~!

Re: Borla Catback

nothing will sound bad on a turbo. if you want something cheaper just get a cheapo muffler off ebay and have a exhaust shop custom bend you an exhaust.
for name brand some popular ones are apexi N1 and RRE thermal. BUT whatever you get make sure that if you're going to get a downpipe that the flanges will match up.

Re: Borla Catback

oh and a nother thing, ive read somewhere that some 3 inch catback applications can hang too low and might get damaged when going over a speedbump

Really you have no problems? Does you exhaust go over the rear axle or under. I saw a sti today and it went under and the skyline that i saw last night it went under also

ill have to go out tommorow and look im not sure, but if you look directly under the car you can tell that it hangs low but my skid plates are even lower so the plates would be the first thing to hit and cause no damage to the exhaust.

It's not just the name. You get a higher flow velocity which results in more HP than alot of other brands...

Re: Borla Catback

if you go to a shop and get a 3 inch mandrel bent system with a decent muffler you're gonna have just as good "flow velocity" as with a full name brand system.
