turbocharging a dohc NA

i have a 92 dodge stealth ES DOHC automatic all stock except k&n filter and i was thinking of buying a sigle 16G turbo and putting it in place of the muffler. i was wondering if i would keep the boost at about 4 to 5 psi if the engine would handle it (60,000 miles)

ive had to replace the engine twice already so i know its not easy or cheap. And would the transmission handle the extra stress. i do not want to put a 5 speed in because it sounds like a lot of work even though i would like it a lot more

or if anyone has figured out how to fit a superchareger in there i am willing to look into that also any help would be appreciated

I've heard a few stories and only of one person fitting an evo16g on so its possible but you have to know what you're doing to piece the kit together.
Get a transmission cooler if you do indeed go that route though.

www.3si.org has much more information on these custom jobs check them out

The FAQ's got all the info u need about supercharging your stealth, it's the very last post in there... how many miles are on your car btw??? and also, according to one of the 3/s'ers on this board, the auto to 5spd swap wasn't very difficult, that's in teh FAQ 2...

Re: turbocharging a dohc NA

my car has 180xxx on the odometer but when we had the engine out the torque converters paint looked very new so we were hoping it was rebuilt but i dont know it shifts pretty good but with 10:1 compression ratio i have my doubts about my engine handling it but if it did work how much horsepower would i have approximatley? im hoping for 270

Re: turbocharging a dohc NA

i saw i could get a 16G turbo off ebay for around 500 and i think i could make the piping but i think ill need an in line oil pump for the oil to make it back to the engine if i put it in the rear cant find one though i figure if with the turbo wastegate blowoff valve piping fuel injectors and fuel controler and exhaust i could do this for around 1500 or so does this sound right or does this sound like a good idea
