Drilling Holes In Airfilter Box

I have a K&N airfilter in my 88' v6 4runner. Ive heard that drilling a few holes in the airfilter box brings out a few more horsepower and gives it a nice sound. Does anyone know anything about this, and if so where to drill the holes and how many to drill?

thank

See if you can't adapt this mod - maybe with a different size deckplate:

Nice mods

Thanks Brian I was trying to remember where that link was.
I REALLY like the one mod that looks like they used a shot gun to remove the bottom of the air box. Some people should never be introduced to hammers!

Re: Drilling Holes In Airfilter Box

The idea works on all types. The goal is to open the box up to as much air as possible. Just keep in mind that water in the intake is not good.
