96 passat TDI....how do the door locks work...

My driver's side lock will not stay locked.....it pops back up right after locking it.

Re: door locks

The key lock switch may be stuck in the unlock position, does the alarm set properly?

Re: door locks

the alarm appears to work quite well as it goes off when I open the door without the key.

Re: door locks

The mechanical portion of the handle & lock mechanism may be damaged (fairly common). you wil probably need to go into the door & look to see if something is jammed or broken.
