Purchasing 95 quest..what to look for?

I plan on purchasing a 95 nissan quest with 165,000 miles on it..it runs great. the price is 1400.00 what should i look for/ I have test driven it and i noticed that at times when i hit the brakes the break light comes on not every time but it came on twice..he said the pads may need changing....are they difficult and does that seem to be the problem?

also the ac compressor has gone out...

other than that there are no other mechanical problems?

any suggestions are greatful.

let me just say that this is an EXCELLENT car. Mine has 220,000 thousand miles on it and Being an EMT, I beat on it daily responding to calls. Ask the owner about how the doors handle cold weather, i know mine can sometimes get sticky. Also my van has problems with the brake light coming on, after servicing the brakes the light still comes on and off, so id check that before replacing the brakes. Any other questions feel free to ask.

If you want to know more about this van go to the Mercury Villager forum there is more info on this year since they are the same 93-02 But in the meantime just look for the obvious things leaks broken parts etc.
