Remote start

I have a 2003 Pt and I want to put a remote start in but I called the dealer and he told me that the 2003 can not have one put in. he said the 2001, 2002 and the 2003 you can not. But the 2004 and the 2005 you can. I have a Bulldog remote starter kit that is new and it says I can in the 2003. I just don't what to screw anything up.

Re: Remote start

Yep, done plenty of them but I would buy something better than the bulldog unit. I have had numerous customers call for me to install their Bulldog unit and almost all have had some sort of problems.

You might need something like DEI part number 457c or 556u+a key to bypass the Sentry key system. Also, if you want keyless on the remote start remote, you'll need to know how to use relays and resistors or use DEI#456L that can learn the resistance needed to work the locks.

To rate this install from 1-10 , one being easy like a '95 Neon or 10 being hard like a '05 Lexus, this would be about a 4.

DEI does have a DIY kits called BOA and Rattler. The Boa is cheaper and isn't all that great but the Rattler is very simular to those install places only sell installed such as myself. www.directed.com

Thanks for the information. That web page you gave me for directed.com is down in Mpls, Mn. But there not open today. Going give them a call tomorrow and see about getting a Rattler.

Re: Remote start

The Rattler units are not suppose to be availible anymore. They were something only for the Xmas season. Yes, they suck. Anyway, glad to see that you got it all worked out.
