Turbo vs Almost Stock

The guy with the Camera runs a 14.4. Mods: AEM CAI. Somewhere around 270-275 hp at the crank.

The guy with the open exhaust runs a 11.XX @ 12x.xx mph. Mods: Custom Turbo @ 5.5 psi making 419 whp. I'm sure he has a couple of bolt ons, but I have no idea what they are.

Right, they're not racing. The Camera car was going 110 before he let off just for the hell of it.

It shows the difference between a 14 and a 11 second car. These two guys are members of another board that I visit and did this race just to see what a difference the turbo makes.

So I guess since you weren't there and don't know the whole story behind the race, you must know better.

Don't worry noone's trying to convice YOU anything.

They're the same cars, one is turboed one is stock. When they raced, out came that - I really couldn't care less what you think they did.

i agree...thats what im confused about. if they are racing, i would expect to at LEAST hear a turbo spooling or a wastegate. Sounds and looks like they are driving about 40 mph tops and granny shifting. It sounds no where near WOT imho.

Re: Turbo vs Almost Stock

It doesnt sound liek they were racing at all...It was just someone doing a high speed run while another car filmed...I could do that with my buddies Lexus.

"I wanted to get a video of the potential of the Turbo system on a CL-S. For this purpose, Clean B was kind enough to let me run him from 30mph to 110mph. This wasn't a race to show who wins or loses... rather a demonstration of the possible power gains at moderate boost levels.

Conditions:
Clean B's setup is an '01 CL-S (auto) with AEM CAI. The cameraman was his passenger. I suppose this negates any gains of the CAI.
My Setup is running with open Exhaust. Car was hitting about 5.9-6.0psi w/o back-pressure.

Temperature was a nice 70-71F @ sea level
Rolling Start at 25-30mph
I believe Clean B's car started off in 1st gear and I started off in 2nd gear
We both floor it (WOT) at the count and I braked at 110mph.

I have requested Scalbert to host the video... so it should be up in the morning if all goes well."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Respones from the guy with the camera car

"i.... i .... i used to think my car was fast.... lol

the 7.5k is definitely worth it IMO .. allmotors car hauls

it is somewhat deceptive... u can hear my vtec goin though, i was DEFINITELY FLOORED.............. i started from 2nd gear, vsa was off....... rom's car is no joke!"
