Driver power window not working

The driver side power window on my 2000 Silverado stopped working (in up position). One day it worked, the next it didn't....no indication giving hit that it was about to fail. Pressing the down button does nothing but make a clicking sound in the switch. Have replaced the switch module in the armrest. Problem persists. Passenger window works (from either control). Power locks, mirros, etc. all work. Hmmmm....blown window motor possibly? Is there anything else electrical possible....I've also checked the fuses.

All GM window regulators are crap.
Sorry but you need a new one.
245.00 part.
GM should recall this part.
I've put three of them in my truck already.
You will have to pull the door pad and remove the unit.
They have a small cable that breaks and the window will not work.

Many thanks....I suspected the next step was going to require a deeper dig into my wallet.

Not a big deal.

1. Do not believe any one that tells you that you can not get a motor by it self. Because you can. They are on back order but it will only cost you about $80. When a regulator and a motor will run you about $300. (Have a dealer locate it for you.)
2. First try to take your original off take it apart and clean it. Driver side gets used more!!
3. When you take it apart be smart. Do not rush it. Take the 4 screws out of the top. Slowly remove the top section with the gear. Do not yank on it. When you get it off you will see a set of brushes here is a smart part get a 13 or 14 mill deep well socket put it over the shaft and guide the brushes on to a socket as you are pulling the motor of the brushes. This will save you hours of trying to get the springs back in to the housing and brushes back on to a motor.
Get some electrical motor cleaner it will run you about $3 or so. You can find it at a hardweare store or in a electric supply place.
Give this a shot it worked for me on my 2001. And for other friends.
