flickering headlights in 95 Neon
This has been a problem as long as I've owned the car (just over a year). I find that the headlights (and dashboard lights) flicker for a split second every couple minutes, but at random (no real pattern; some minutes, I might get several flickers, while I can also go a few minutes flicker-free). I live in a small town, and I took it in to have the problem looked at. They replaced the signal switch, and later, the headlight switch, but none of it has made any difference. They now claim to have found an "anti-flicker kit" which will cost me $300, but due to their track record in diagnosing this problem, I will not be bringing my car back to them. I've also had it suggested that the flickering may be related to the fan kicking in. The shop tried disabling my daytime running lights, but it made no difference. They also did a bunch of electrical tests without being able to find the problem.
Here are some things I've noticed: -It doesn't matter if I'm idling or driving -It makes no difference if I have A/C, radio, defroster, fans on - The problem is there with or without my highbeams Has anyone encountered this problem before, or have any ideas? I drive 600 km at night every couple weeks, so this has been a huge annoyance. Thanks for your help |
