D16z6 and VTEC

ok this might sound like a noob question but there have been countless times that ive read the d16z6 is a vtec engine, and also that is not. so my question is.. REALLY does it have vtec, or doesnt it? i know it wouldnt make a huge difference due to the SOHC but still i want to know

Re: D16z6 and VTEC

Your valve cover might just not say it on it. For some reason some are labled and some aren't.

Re: D16z6 and VTEC

your d16z6 will have vtec. the only difference in your vtec engine to say a b16 is your variable valve timing is only on the intake valves while a b16 uses variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust valves.
92-93 d16z6 didnt say vtec on the valve cover but 94-95 did (someone correct me if i am wrong on those yrs.)

Wow, where did you go to have your home phone integrated into your motor? Did they have to remove vtec to install the vtech?

Just to add to that, Z6 is SOHC and B16 is DOHC. But not all DOHC motors have VTEC on the intake and exhaust valves, the K20 in the newer Si's only have VTEC on the intake side too...which is BS IMO.
