SLP WS6 vs SuperCharged G35 Coupe

OK, so I know both of these guys. The WS6 goes to school with me and the supercharged G35 is a friend of mine, we always cruise. I only have an AEM intake and 3000miles on my G35 Coupe so I set this race up for these guys....

WS6 - He just got the car and he doesn't really know what is done to it. We know exhaust, chip and intake.

G35 Coupe - ATI Procharger, biult engine. Dynoed at 383 to the wheels at 5.5 PSI.

Me [G35 Coupe] - AEM intake. Dynoed 241 at the wheels.

So, we meet up in Starbucks parking lot but quickly get kicked out by the rant-a-cop so we go across the street to Brookshires and chat for justa second then head to ''the track''. Usually we check for cops but these two guys were anxious.

This is a loooong, 4 laned road with a turn lane - 5 lanes total. Inside left lane, closest to turn lane WS6, Me, Camaro SS, Volvo S80.
Right lane, closest to curb S/C G35, Del Sol, Mustang.

We watch the cross lights, It blinks yellow and you can hear all three of us [G35's and WS6] rev up, the S/C begins to whine and I can hear my faint exhaust note in the background.

False alarm...turn lane light goes 1st...everyone sits back and waits. Light goes yellow and again the S/C whines and I bring the RPMs to just over 1500. Green! We all get perfect launches. Shift to second and we are pretty close to each other, by 70 the G35 and WS6 have walked away from me [I was just trying to keep up to see who would win]. 90 My phone starts ringing, no way in hell im answering it so I try to ignore it as I shift into 4th and both cars are now around 4 cars ahead of me. I see the next light, intersection, and gas station. We always race on this strip and none of our races EVER last this long, I see both black cars as a blurr as they pass under the slightly lighted interrsection. I glance down to see when my shift should be, I scream past the gas station at over 140MPH. I see a cloud of smoke ahead of me, they are probably 5-6 cars ahead of me by now. As rocks, dirt, and other road debris hit my car I don't see anything going wrong, both of the racers are still neck and neck, it doesn't look any anyone gained anything the entire race. We hit the next intersection and take a left. My phone has been vibrating in my pocket the entire time.

Everyone's car smells, very warm and worked over. We cruise for about 1/2 a mile and the the WS6 and S/C G35 say they want to go at it again so the G35 takes off and the WS6 and I follow. My phoen goes off again, and this time I push ignore. We cruise at around 120mph down a deserted street until we hit a light.

We line up again, This time me and G35 are in one lane and the WS6 is in the other. G35 gets a jump on the WS6 and I decided I'm going to let mine rest so I granny her up to around 120 again, just so I can see the other two guys and dont lose them. I can't tell what happened at all this round but I see blinkers and they turn into a gas station.

We chat and I ask what happened. Again, no one gained an inch and no one last an inch. Both said it was the closest race they had EVER had. We decide to head back to the original spot to gather and talk for a second. My phone begins to ring, I ignore it. Back at the meeting spot my friends in the Volvo, Sol, and Stang sit waiting as they were all 16 sec cars and could not keep up.

OK, so I finally check my phone and see that those guys had been calling me the whole time so I ask what the deal was. They had got caught at the light at the intersection we passed through at 140.

They said, "You know why it turned red?"
"No, why?"
"Because a COP was waiting to turn!!"
Got lucky, very lucky. I had been in a race that lasted that long....The other G35 guy said he had gone through that intersection at atleast 155 because he shifted into 6th gear right after.

When asked that the cloud of smoke, dirt, rocks etc was the G35 guy, who is in his upper 30s btw, got a straight face and looked very pissed. The WS6 had passed a car in the turning lane throwing all sorts of crap all over both of us G35's, I never knew this happened...I was too far back, lol. WS6 leaves....thats about it...

Can't believe a cop probably saw us running this fast....we are VERY lucky.

Re: SLP WS6 vs SuperCharged G35 Coupe

Lot of the times, if you're traveling at such speeds. The police won't bother to pursue. They deem it unsafe.

#1 No chance in hell of catching up to you, you've already got a 120mph head start.

#2 They'll radio in for a helicopter, but that usually takes a good 2-3 minutes for one to show up.

#3 It might of been a Rent-A-Cop with a car that looked similar to a police car. We have those, they look very close untill you're next to them and realise the guy is 19 and it says Mall Security on it.

thats a pretty fast race, way to fast for my taste, anything over 100 MPH and you wreck, conisder yourself a bug splatter on your winshield or pavement. Anways stay safe.

Yeah, by 140 they would have been a lot further ahead of you than just 5-6 car lengths, at least the G35 would. Maybe you meant to say bus lengths?

Can you show us the Video? I know of a Twin Turbo G35C that makes 377 whp @ 8 psi, so I would love to see one that makes that much.

Oh and BTW, that G35 probably runs low 12s so he would smoke you a lot worse by 100 mph than described.

Get the vids! Sounds like a good race, too high speed for me, but I always love to see a Trans Am in action. They're so sexy...so get the vids! Late...

Re: SLP WS6 vs SuperCharged G35 Coupe

Very stupid to race at those high rates of speed..but it was definitely an interesting read. And what kind of mustang was it? You said it was a 16 second car..must have been an older six cylinder.

Re: SLP WS6 vs SuperCharged G35 Coupe

Lol, just watched the video. They are more like 5 bus lengths ahead, haha! Its hard to see them in the video. I hit the brakes right as we come to the interrsection....friend is sending the video via AIM right now...so this might take awhile...

dampachi: The Mustang is a 98 V6. Best time is a 16.1 and he's at the track right now trying to beat that time. The Volvo actually runs a 15.8 and the Del Sol runs a 16.0. My best time is a 13.9 and the WS6 nor G35 S/C have been to a track.

OK, since he said he can see it...towards the end of the video watch the stripes on the road...watch how fast they are going by, as the interrsection gets closer watch how fast I stop and they go by very slowly.

Re: SLP WS6 vs SuperCharged G35 Coupe

OK, since I wasn't detailed in my long novel above in who actually won...

You can see the G35 get a small lead from the start. Bother racers said the G35 kept that lead, until the guy filming says, "IT'S A RACE!" that is when the WS6 caught up and they became even. By the interrsection the G35 guy said the WS6 was pulling VERY slowly. I think they ended up just calling it a tie. Both wanted to go from 0-??? but never could find that streth of road and figured we'd ran it hard enough and pushed our luck enough for tonight.....

I'll take [legal] shots of my car tonight messin around. The G35 with the charger is stock exhaust. I'll more then likely meet up with him also and take some good pics of the car.

ENJOY!

Re: SLP WS6 vs SuperCharged G35 Coupe

That was a messed up place to race though. That second light could have easily turned red and they both would have been screwed at those speeds (not to mention the people making the left turn comming from the other side)

I still think the G35C should have clearly beat him. It should be running mid - low 12s with that much power. The twin turbo guy runs low 12s w/o nitrous (which he has installed also)
