P0303 Fix

CEL came on last night, and car started running rough. Put code reader on this AM (right at the same time the snowstorm hit), and got p303-cyl 3 misfire. Came here to Hyundai Forum, did a search for possible fixes. Using the info, I took the cover off the top of the engine and checked the plug wire for #3. There was a dis-coloration on the boot, and upon closer inspection I can see that it must have been arcing to the engine, causing the misfire. I did a quick-fix of a few wraps of electrical tape, and immediately the engine ran smooth again, and the code stayed clear. Hopefully the tape will work until I can get a new set of wires.

Is that a dealer item or will they have it at an autoparts store? Would it be a warranty item by any chance?

Much thanks to the folks on the forum for saving me some cash and aggravation.

Just had a P300 and 301 on our 2000 Accent. I replaced the plugs and wires ...bought from Dealer. Very important to use Hyundai specified NGK plugs. $3.00 each..so why not? Dealer not as pushy about using their wire set, but fairly cheap so why take chance with other brand. Plugs and wires are normal wear items...doubt the warranty would cover..but not sure.

Didn't Hold

Well, it arc'd right thru the tape. I went and ordered a set of wires, and tried some cloth electrical tape, covered by plastic tape as a temporary fix til tomorrow.
