So I've made my FINAL final decision...

I cannot wait for the Brahma to come from backorder, so I've settled for the RE XXX 15" and the Cadence ZRS-8, back to my original setup. I just can't wait months for the Brahma to come back, that's too long of a time. On top of that, Adire would not respond to two seperate e-mails that I've sent to them so far. I will NOT buy used car audio, never have and never will. I just don't trust the abuse it might have gone through.

With that said, the optima yellowtop and Big 3 are a MUST on the list of things I need. So if I could get a tutorial on the Big 3, it would be appreciated. I feel the ZRS-8 will supply ample power to this sub.

My impatience got the best of me. I'm ordering the sub a week from now and the amp 2 weeks after that.

Re: So I've made my FINAL final decision...

Are you going for SPL SQ or SQL? Because FYI an SX in the smae enclosure as a xxx will ALWAYS be almost 2db louder off any power......and yes Sx's can handle power as long as its clean. And if your getting more then 2kw out of the amp you'll be fine. Check on prices on a ZRS-9 tho and if its not much more step up to that. XXX 15's and 18's like a lot of power....hell I know a lotta ppl running 2500 watts though a xxx12 in 2.5 cubes ported NET. I wouldn't run that much sealed though.

I want a healthy mix of SQ and SPL. So I think the XXX can give that to me. As for power, if I stepped it up to a ZRS-9, I'd really be pushing the need for a larger alternator.

For a ZRS-8 it would be $667 shipped.
For a ZRS-9 it would be $726 shipped.

Worth the extra $61, I think it is, but we'll see what money is like when that comes around. I'm definitely ordering a sub by February 2nd.

Re: So I've made my FINAL final decision...

I know what you mean about used equipment. I told myself I would never buy anything used, but then a week ago I got this used Arc, go figure. Then again it was still new according to the seller, and it still had the plastic shrinkwrap stuff on it, so it's basically new. I'll still never buy used speakers

Holy fuck, that much money for an amp? Hell no. Even if it is better then lets say, a nine.1. I don't know why you would spend that much money on an amp. FUCKKKKKKKKK. Strap 2 nine.1's! lol, $$$$

maaannn, get audiobahn. not that crap. Or even better... Fosgate.. ohh yeahhh.

nah... just playin.. I wish I could spend 726$ on a sub amp. JC. Im still a young buck though, so I have to stick with what I can get. 250x2 to audiobahn 12's. Cant help it. Cant spend much. Im jealous. But it wont be too long before I have a show car with 6 12's or maybe 4 15's fiberglassed into my backseat area. (not too long means, less than 5 years.. Im trying to be realistic.)

I'm an old fart, and I would hate to admit how much money I have spent on audio stuff over the years. It really is better (and cheaper) in the long run to just get what you want the first time

Well, in SR20 and Bumpin's case, what if what you want is crap and you just didn't know any better? Lol. Or I should say even in my case. Although I went with the same setup for almost 4 years and it was crap from the beginning.

I have one more question. What kind of electrical upgrades am I looking at with the ZRS-9? I already know Big 3 and yellow top or another battery of equal quality/build. What about alternators? I do NOT want a secondary battery, I will spend the extra money on a large alternator. Will it be necessary though? I think the one I have now is about 90 or 100 amps.

And someone PLEASE explain the Big 3 or Magic 3 upgrades. I mean explain it in full detail. Nobody has really done this yet for me. Probably about the fourth time I've asked too.

the big 3 is replacing 3 wires with larger ones ....... neg battery to engine block, negative batt to chassis, and pos battery to alternator. This will allow a higher current flow, especially if you upgrade the alternator. Getting more than one battery is only for if you listen a lot with the car off, once you start the car - the alternator has to keep the second one charged too, which will just rob some of your power. As for upgrading your alternator, try what you have and see how bad it is.

yep, it all depends on how you listen to your music. You may have a problem, you may not. I only have an 80 amp alt and I have no problem with all the shit in my sig, but I guarantee you if I gave my car to a couple friends of mine there would be some serious problems with the electrical system. It's all based on you and your listening habits.

That's what I was hoping you'd say . I plan on just giving it a test run. If I notice some serious dimming, I guess I'll have to face the music and spend the money. Thank God tax returns are coming soon.
