Question What's a good overall tire...

I'm planning on puttin' atleast a 4" lift on my 94 4Runner and I'm wantin some good 33"x12.50" tires. Right now I have 31" Michelin A/T's and they are a great tire but i want sumthin bigger and more aggressive. I'm not sure what to get though and I need some opinions....I want sumthin with great performance both on and off-road and also look tough. I was originally thinking about Thornbirds but after seeing the reviews, I don't want those anymore. I'm maybe thinking about some Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips or some Super Swamper SSR's....i'm not sure though. I need some input...

Also...how much power and mpg do you lose when you have stock 31" tires and change to 33's?

Re: Need new tire recommendation...

the best lift I have benn able to find, which doesn't offer anything over 3'' or so is the old man emu setup. you should be able to find them online through ARB as well as other distributors...supposed to be extremely tough and smooth as well as designed for the australian outback....just something to consider..good luck

Re: Need new tire recommendation...

Hey I have a 97 Runner and I just put some Goodyear MTR's on and in my opinion they are and awesome tire. The off road guys here are even using them for rock crawling. The guy at my off-road shop said he sold about 250 MTR's this past year and has only had one tire come back with a teared side wall. They are a really tough tire, and have really good traction in poor driving conditions. They are awesome in the snow and mud!! It all depends on what kind of off-roading you want to do and what kind of terrain you will be driving on. Good luck

Re: Need new tire recommendation...

I just put a pair of Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's on my 97 Runner, and they look great...I was having they same problem with trying to choose, and I wanted something that looked really rugged. I assume you have been reasearching for a while. I looked at the the BFgoody's T/A K/O's but chose the Revos, and they have been excellent. Great traction on wet or dry road, and in snow I didn't even have to turn on the 4WD. They look great. Check e'm out.

Re: Need new tire recommendation...

Also...the good thing about the good thing about the revo's is that they are good at fast speeds on or off, since they are all-terrain...sometimes those huge off road tires will be kinda bumpy on road...so it depends on how much you will be on/off road.
