Re: 5 min engine cleaner

the 5 min flush also needs to be run through your vehicle. I have used it numerous times and had no problems. It does a pretty decent job. I had flooded my vehicle and when I did an oil change I used the flush. The flush went in clear and came out black. also brought a lot of dirt and debris with it out.

Re: 5 min engine cleaner

I ran Gunk 5 min. engine flush through a severely neglected & sludged up 267 V8 in a '79 Malibu I traded for following the directions EXACTLY and putting fresh oil and filter after the flush. It's a thin solvent and I worried about the bearings but loosened up alot of junk and 1 oil & filter change a week for 3 weeks finally cleaned up the motor with no damage.

On a motor with roller lifters, I wouldn't use it because of all the junk it loosens quickly. I believe 3 or 4 1000 mile oil & filter changes would accomplish the same thing and not overload the oil filter to the point of bypassing the junk back to the oil system.

Just throw it in the warm oil and idle it for 30 minutes and dump your oil and replace with a fresh oil filter and oil.

Sometime, it is smart to swap in another cheap oil filter when you are running the flush just to catch all the crap coming out. Then install another oil filter with the fresh oil.

Re: 5 min engine cleaner

yes but I am sure that the can also says to drain your oil first than add. Blazer LT said to run 30 mins becaue he adds to the oil before he even drains anything. the can assumes that it will be the only thign in your system.

Run it through for 30 with it only at idle.

Might as well swap on a cheap oil filter while you are doing it to catch all the crap it will be dislodging and cleaning.

Trust me on this ok.

Put it in and idle for 30 minutes, it will not hurt anything at all, and keep it ONLY at idle.
