hey guys sorry about my last posts but i have read through the FAQ now and im not sure on this...what engine is better for drift the SR or KA?
thanks and sorry for pissing some people off with my idiot questions |

the SR is. it's higher revving engine, not too mention it's pretty much the only engine used in 240's when it comes to pro drifting. the KA is more of a drag racing engine. try searching through forums before you post, and check out those threads at the top, they'll more than likely have all the answers to ur questions

I wouldn't focus on what engine is better for drifting. You should focus on suspension and driving technique. I don't know and don't care to know much about drifting, but I do know that skill is the most useful tool for drifting.

I agree with nissan fanatic, the money you spend on the engine (around 2500-3500) you could put into your suspension and safety. Get coilovers, sway bars, strut bars, some braces and possible a roll cage (which is required in most legal drifting competitions). Then (i think now you need more money) get a nice exhaust and then think about an engine swap.
As for the engine SR20DET has somewhat better aftermarket support (KA now has pretty good one too) is more rev frendly and give almost 50/50 weight distribution due to its aluminum construction, which is always a plus in any kind of racing. And if you fall in love with the Ka you can always turbo it have a fast car with out the hassle of engine swap.

truth is...any fucking engine can drift, i hate this question. AS long as you can keep your tires spinning it doesn't really matter. High rpm this high rpm that, as long as there spinning you can drift. I would focus more on suspension, lsd, and a pair of grubby rims that you can put on the back and mess up. KA has plenty of potential to drift if your a newby. Then you can slowly ugprade from there. THink about what does a ka need to rev high??? new valve train.....not that hard to do. If your serious about it. I still cant wait to see a the first ka drifter (that is potentially good).

R.W.240, from my research it is around 20lb, BUT the sr20 also includes a trubo setup which is not exectly light. And the SR is mounted closer to the center which makes better weight distribution.
I would still take a well built SR20DET over a well built KA24DET anytime of the year. CA and SR were designed for sport cars unlike the KA. I know that with proper tunning you an achieve real good results in ka as well, but I guess everyone has their own opinion on everything and I respect it.

yea i see his point, but if there all "well" built, then they all were built for sporty cars. Now comparing them stock is another story.
