Piston slap/oil filter thoughts/questions

Hey all , I was wondering about something the other day. I own a 2000 Silverado Lt 4x4 with the 4.8 and THANKFULLY i do not have the piston slap. One thing i was wondering about is this ; I have seen quite a few people commenting about making sure you buy a good oil filter , one that has a valve in it so that the oil does not drain out of it when the vehicle is sitting basically causing a dry startup which may not contrubitue to the piston slap , but most likely does not help any. Does anyone out there with a 4.8 have the piston slap, i know i have seen a few about the 5.3's ,6.0's among others with it. Another thing i was really wondering about is what difference would the oil filter make especially on a 4.8 because the oil filter is mounted vertically which obviously does not let the oil drain out of it. Is the oil filter in the 5.3,6.0 and other engines mounted differently than the 4.8 and if it is and buying a good oil filter with the valve in it helps quiet down the piston slap or even stops it in some cases, wouldn't it be a good option to buy a remote oil filtering system so the oil filter (or filters in the dual filter setup) be a good idea/option ? Just a thought that maybe has not crossed the minds of those with piston slap.

yo

my 5.3 filter is hanging down too but i was watching 2 guys garage and they were putting a remote filter system on a truck the system had 2 filters they said you can order duel or 1 filter set up? one reason they did this install was because the filter sits right beside the exhaust so the remote will help lower oil temp and they mounted it where the air flow is much better accross the duel system set up ahh iam rambling again..as for the valve thingy i've heard nothing but i do use the k@n oil filter 16 bucks a pc but should be worth the extra protection
