d15b1 question

anyone know if you can take the metal plate out of the airbox that restrict airflow?? i didnt know if this is something that can come out or not!!

also is there a way to open the throttle plate all the way instead of just 3/4 of the way at open throttle?? and will these changes if possible make a difference??

Re: d15b1 question

Yep, like 1phatcx said, there is no gain what so ever. Actually, I took mine out around last christmas, put a new exhaust tip around feb. and by march, the tip was just plain out black. Found out it was running a little more rich than it was suppose too, so I stuck it back in. Both D15b1 and D15b2 have them in the DPFI airbox so there is really no gain at all when comparing engines.

The best solution to try (and I might do this) is to swap the DX/D15b2 throttle body with your b1 throttle body. They look the same, but they're different in two ways.
- The throttle plate inside only opens 3/4 the way on a b1 while it opens a full 90 degrees on the B2.
- The dashpot on the b1 is smaller than the one on the b2. It is basically the reason why the throttles open the way they do. The bigger they are, the more they open.

But if you want a good injection swap, do the MPFI!for sure. Hope that helps.
