2004 freestar-crackling noise on acceleration

my 2004 freestar makes this wierd crackling noise everytime i hit the gas pedal, but stops when i release it.i use 87 octane gas, should i try something else? please inform me if you know a fix to this problem.John Lance Ford said there is nothing wrong with my van. It only has 5021 miles on it...

try 92 octan and chek if its still knocking.
Change aire filter
If it keeps knocking let the fuel injection serviced.

It sounds like 'pinging' - our '99 does it intermittantly - when it happens, I use the next higher octane gas for a tank or two, then I can go back to regular until it inevitably does it again. Just another of the many foibles you'll discover, assuming the Freestar has the same "quality" as the Windstar....

Yikes! after only 5000miles? I'd hope those dont need to be done. I also doubt 92oct is needed. These vans are spec'd for 87.
