Torque converter locked?

my boss has a 2000 tundra with the iforce v8. Last night his torque converter locked up on him. The truck will start and idle just fine, but if you put it into gear, forward or reverse it will die. I put it into 4lo and shifted from neutral into reverse with my foot off of the brake. The truck would go and I could drive it, but as soon as I stoped all the way, it was just like I had a 5spd and forgot to push in the clutch. Any advice.

Re: Torque converter locked?

Unplug the TCC solenoid and see if it goes away. Then figure out if the computer is telling it to lock up the converter.

I was looking through the toyota forum, and have seen so many questions that don't need to be asked. You yota boys need to work on thinking through things. I have seen so many posts that are basically "here's my problem, what's the problem? PLEASE HELP!!!" Sorry, this was not only you, but I seem to have picked this post.

Re: Torque converter locked?

We are not as used to having as many problems with our trucks as others are. When we have any problem at all, it is a momentous occasion. We just don't know what to do.

I guess the bottom line is: If you want to learn everything there is to know about your truck because you have to fix it on a daily basis, don't buy a Toyota.
