Can't open hood! Release cable is broken!

83 model. The hood release cable broke off somewhere in the engine compartment. How do you open it????

You have to pull the cable then hit the hood where the latch is. This is common among chevy and gmc trucks. If you want to fix the problem you will have to go to the parts store and order a new one.

There's a piece of steel clamped onto the end of the cable to make it pull the latch, as long as that didn't break off, it shouldn't be too hard to open.

As is the tailgate release latch.
