Re: Car Security System

I would recommend the Viper system that does not have remote start, unless you have an automatic. if you have an automatic, go for the viper remote start, esp 550. I had one on my old car, accord, and it had the most wonderful range and it worked very well. I have a basic Viper security system on my car right now and it doesn't have nearly the range that my old one did, but It's a good system none the less.

Re: Car Security System

You can get a remote start for any car, but places like Bestbuy, and circuit city are not going to install it on a manual car. If you leave the car in gear, and you try and start the engine, it will start it in gear, and keep trying if it does start, so it will just keep going foward lurching each time it tries to start, and stalling each time the gear doesn't allow it to move. I would recommend that you not get one, but if you are deadset on it, make damn well sure that you never leave the car in gear when you park it.

Re: Car Security System

pepsi i think all the vipers have good range... just depends on where whoever installed it put your antenna. Ive just been too lazy to fix mine, but they put my antenna way down by my left foot... i bet yours is down there too u could prolly move it if u want more range.

Yep, per instructions for regular non-2way alarms from DEI is to place the antenna vertically as high under the dash as you can trying to advoid close contact to data wiring. If you have a 2way or one with remote start, you are to make sure NOT to coil up the antenna wire.
