90 Taurus Cold Weather Stalling Problem

I have a 90 Taurus, 3.0L non-SHO, automatic transmission. In sub-freezing temperatures, the car will stumble when coming to a stop at a light. When trying to accelerate from a stop, the car will stall. It will crank over but not start unless you hold the accelerator pedal to the floor. Once moving above @10mph, it's fine until you stop again. While stopped, it seems to have a normal idle speed with the exception of the stumbling. This problem will sometimes clear when the car is warmed up. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes it won't act up at all, although it seems to be more pronounced in cold temperatures. It's not due for a tune-up and the air filter is new. The car has @ 116000 miles. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
