12" in Sealed Box: Which Sub?

I currently have 3 JL10s, and later on i'm looking to move on to a single 12-inch subwoofer, in a sealed box to save on space, because the sealed box for the 3 10s is a monster...lol

I've read lots of good reviews about the infinity kappa perfect 12.1 series (single voice coil, not sure if going dual would make much of a difference). They handle 375W RMS and work well in sealed enclosures with 1 foot of cubic space, which is perfectly fine for me.

I'm looking for a sub that hits hard, but hits accurately and not sloppy (hence the sealed enclosure). Anyone have sub recommendations? Looking for a sub in the $100-$250 range. Also, i could use recommendations on a nice amplifier that gives clean wattage to the sub. A mono class-D amp please

Re: 12" in Sealed Box: Which Sub?

you do know this 12 isn't going to give nearly the output that the 10's did right?
at least not for $100-$250

sounds like image dynamics would be right up your alley though, something like an IDQv2 or actually an IDv3 (I've heard it's actually better than the IDQv2)

Re: 12" in Sealed Box: Which Sub?

the 10's get pretty loud, but it only goes so much before they reach their limit, and they don't have the lower frequency response like 12s do

the punch on them is great though

Just took a look at image dynamics website, didn't find the v3's you were talking about, but they look promising.

I'm willing to go ahead and get 2 12's, just so i can get that extra punch. Sealed enclosures of course! But i'd much rather have just one
