Re: basic stuff

i just learned by trying... there are almost always instructions on parts to install.

ive learned the harder stuff here.

but the basics, like headlamps, taillights, wiring, plugs, oil, cai/rai, headers; pretty much bolt on mods, its pretty easy.

just open up all of the new posts and read and learn.

yes, most of my knowledge came from here, however a haynes manual never hurts.

Definately, get at least some kind of manual if your going to be working on your car, that way if you really screw somethin up you know how your supposed to fix it. It will also show you little things you can do for fun that arent hard to do like adjusting your throttle cable and your clutch pedal things like that. Just do the little things to build your confidence....then yank the engine out and rebuild it....just a thought

Re: basic stuff

I learned by listening in on other people when they talked about stuff. I also am in an auto class at school. A really good way to learn is to either read posts and ask questions or go to howstuffworks.com

Re: basic stuff

Ask questions above all things....if you aren't comfortable asking in front of everyone...PM me and ask me and im sure that everyone else feels the same way. Everyone had to ask someone at some point so don't feel dumb or imbarassed to ask.

Re: basic stuff

dont even worry about asking a stupid question.. we all have them at one point because noone here knows everything. If you get flamed they'll just delete that persons post and that person will look like a jerk regardless.

Re: basic stuff

Questions in here are great. If you know someone who knows a thing or two, offer to help the with a car or something. Getting your hands dirty is how I learn. Also a haynes manual is a must have.

Read up on car sites and forums. check out what people are talking about..Do stuff on your own to your car (or someone else's) take things apart thats really the only way to learn and be good at something.. that's how i learned a lot of stuff about cars is helping out friends, listening to them talk, internet research, and doing things to my car.
