What paint is good for photo etching parts? I've read a previous thread that mentioned a special primer, what exactly do i need, brand name?

Yeah, you need a metal etching primer of some description, Tamiya, Duplicolour, GSI Creos and many others will do the trick. Also helps to sand the surface with fine sandpaper to give it some tooth for the paint to grip.
