odd noise
I just bought a 2002 grand prix and after I start it and take my foot off the brake it make a odd growl right after I start moving and only for a sec (almost sounds like a slight rubbing). It doesn't matter it I go forward or reverse, or if the wheels are straight or turned. It doesn't do it at stops either, only after I first start the car. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Thanks, Jen |

Re: odd noise
I dont know if this will help or not but I know that my moms chrysler minivan will make a sound when you put it in gear after starting. Its hard to describe but almost like a creaking sound. If you are near the car you can hear it very well. I used to have a 95 Chrysler LHS that did the same thing and I have noticed this same sound on a lot of front wheel drive vehicles. I always thought it was normal. If we are talking about the same thing.

I think my car does the same thing. Every time I brake I can hear a noise for about a second that sounds like something electric engaging or disengaging, or something... It's a subtle sound that I can only hear without the radio on. I would like to know what it is too!

Thanks, I think we are talking about the same noise. Because it only happens on the inital start, I'm thinking its not a big deal. Thanks again, Jen |

Re: odd noise
I was told it is the ABS system, its like a self test. my 02 gp gt does the exact same thing Fuahole wrote. thats what the guy at the dealership told me.

You are correct,97/98's have a different ABS system then the 99/03'3.Its just a self test for the ABS system.~Larry~
