Primer on every parts?

Hi!

I was only wondering if I have to use primer on every parts that's going to be sprayed?
I've started on the large cockpit-part / section, and it will be sprayed with the Tamiya AS-12 spray (Bare Metal Silver). But the part is black now, will it be too dark to just spray over? Do i need primer?

So the small can will last to the body and some small parts too?

Thanks,
Laaars

Re: Primer on every parts?

Yes. Prime every part. Especially prime anything that will be sprayed.

Prime every part.

Prime every part.

Prime every part.

Or not. Whatever.

I don't prime every part. Only those that need spray paint or are too dark. (ie: black plastic, need to be yellow)

Thanks!
Then I'll primer the large cockpit part at least, and of course the body.

just a note Laaars...

I prime every thing. the reason is because it makes it easier to see mold lines and such while cleaning up parts. also you get more uniform color throughout the entire model. acyrillic brush painting goes on more uniform as well. thats just me though. but i would at least prime any part as big as a wheel or bigger.

That AS-12 covers quite well. Two light to medium light coats will cover the black fine, especially if it's for the interior.
You can prime if you want, but I usually only prime the exterior body surfaces before shooting Tamiya Lacquers to aid in adhesion, or as mentioned earlier, if I want a light color over dark colored plastic. - Mark
