Transmission probs?
Hi, could you give an opinion what might be my problem? I have an 1997 SC2 automatic, and I am having what might be major transmisison probs. First it started with the jerking into reverse from N , then i noticed the left speakers going in and out. I never thought this was related but the going in and out of the speaker is enacted by the turning of the steering wheel. Now a month later, I am experiencing a shifting problem. So now, when going up a small hill at 35 -40mph, it seems that the rpm does something not right and revs which makes it feel like the car is about to give out.
Please help, I have little money to repair Trans problems, and I am wondering if I should fix it or get rid of it. I know i need to realign, which might affect the speaker, but i read in another thread that this might be related to the transmission probs. Thanks for your help! |

Re: Transmission probs?
i would start by trying this cheap fix for the reverse slam - http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23670.
the radio problem may or may not be related. if the fix about doesn't help, then you may have a loose input shaft nut($700 saturn dealership only repair) or less likey a bad diode in your alternator, which could explan the radio problem |

Re: Re: Transmission probs?
thanks for your input, i will try it. maybe this will help the other problem which is a little more scary. I have been watching it closely the past two days, and realized the car is having shifting issues at between 35-40 mph when i push on the gas. if i lay off of it and let it accel slowly, then it almost doesnt shift into that gear, does anyone know if this sounds terrible, or just a tran fluid issue?

Re: Transmission probs?
that sound like the TCC locking up, normal action. the new trans fluid(from the repair above) may smooth it out a little.

I just had the same problem in my saturn it was the Neutral saftey switch, I did not think it would make a difference but it was amaziing. The RPM's would rev up like it didn't want to move. Cost was about $30 for he part and its easy to put in.
