im not a redneck, but i do know that nascar is indeed VERY athletic. just because they're not really moving doesnt mean their bodies arent taking a beating. remember, those cars only drive on sunny days in the summer. they get EXTREMELY hot in there. plus, same a fighter pilots are in good shape. all those g forces on someones body takes its toll. and dealing with all that for 500 miles earns my respect. besides, i challenge anyone who reads this to think realistically about how fast they're going and everything about that sport. its extremely difficult for people to keep control those cars. especially in the turns. i mean, they';re going almost 200 miles per hour usually. there's no room for mistakes. its alot harder than anyone gives credit for. same with golf, but thats something else entirely.

Re: What does NASCAR stand for

yea thats right. nascar drivers and golfers are the most athletic athletes in athleticism. Dont forget bowlers... and pool players... true athletes.
on a side note.. If I was a nascar driver I would make them install an A/C in my car. And an in dash DVD player so I could watch movies during the race. And a bomb ass stereo system so loud that nobody in the whole race arena would ever stop hearing my subs bumping. Who cares if that stuff is heavy, that just means I need a faster car. And so what if I dont ever win a race because of it, neither do about 90 percent of nascar drivers with gutted cars.

well, im not trying to say golfers are the most athletic people in sports. i was just drawing the comparison that nobody gives nascar drivers the credit tehy deserve for such a difficult sport to participate in. indy cars, admittedly, are more fun to watch but thats even HARDER. and really, with all the restrictions NASCAR puts onto the drivers (especially teh notorious restrictor plates) really the cars are all pretty close performance wise. when you're going that fast, you have to move fast when your shifting. you wanna press a moster clutch like that for 500 miles? it's probably not even hydroically assisted either. im just saying that while they're not moving a whole lot, nascar drivers' bodies take a good beating from the fast speeds and the sharp turns and all the stuff involved with trying to go fast and not crash, and they just deserve a little more recognition for that. i can draw another comparison here. look at wrestling. everyone pulls the homosexual crap on people who wrestle, but nobody realzes just how hard it is to force someone to move someway they dont want to. wrestling in my opinion is one of the most athletic sports ever. not only do they have to train religiously, but they have to hit up strict diets to stay in their weight class. just an example. borrowing from good ol' rodney dangerfield: nascar drivers never get any respect.

P.S try and say all footballplayers are dumb.Tell the guys at westpoint, navy, or any of the prep schools (yale, harvert, penn, ect). and i know i cant spell

Re: What does NASCAR stand for

I was just taking advantage of a pefect opportunity to make a joke. Ive played golf, that shit is hard. I've never bowled more than 160, Ive never driven over 125 mph, and I cant make 1/4 the shots pro pool players do. Im not saying I dont respect them, but theres a difference in athleticism, and humongous skill. Track and field requires GREAT athleticism. golf does not. Its just a very finely tuned skill that takes years and years to perfect. Much respect. same for bowling and pool. Nascar however is its own kind of thing. They just have to have the endurance to drive 500 miles without showing any signs of fatigue. anybody that has ever gone faster than 100 miles per hour, knows that driving at 200 miles per hour surrounded by other cars that are going 200 miles per hour, around turns, is VERY HARD. But it still isnt much of a display of athleticism. You have to understand where Im coming from with that. My point is that if you try to copare it to football or basketball or wrestling, you cant. Its not the same type of thing. Not the same type of athleticism.

Re: What does NASCAR stand for

According to what I see on TV, the newest, baddest sport is playing poker. Take a real athlete to handle that action. Are we really that bored?

Yeah, Fat pigs like Jimmie Johnson and little twerps like Gordon are not athletes. It takes a lot of Endurance to sit in a seat and play poker for 12 hours but thats not a sport. NASCAR is like poker, A skill comptetion not a sport.

Re: What does NASCAR stand for

you know it's funny. all of you sitting at yuor computers going on and on about how NASCAR drivers are not athletes. It takes just as much physical ability to drive that car as it does to play football or soccer or any other sport. ill bet none of you can go out there and do what they do just for 1 hour.

Re: What does NASCAR stand for

I wouldn't say you have to be an athlete to drive those cars but you have to be very fit. Do they have power steering on those? I dont think so and emagine how hard it is to turn that wheel going 200Mph. Heck, my arms get tired after 40 minutes of driving a non-power assisted car at 70 Kph. Also, if there were less restrictions, they would be going faster, back when there was the dodge daytona and plymouth superbee they were going what, 230Mph? I think they should take off the retrictions on wings and maybe restrictor plates but keep the speed around 250Mph. The reason they banned wings was because of the masive downforce that wore down the tires very fast and it was to the point of being dangerous. But now that tire manufacturers can make tires to sustain those ammounts of downforce they should lift the ban, IMO.

Re: What does NASCAR stand for

they can probably drive as well as i can
turning left at 160mph takes very little skill
ive seen the few nascar races that actually race on a road course and the top drivers look like fucking high school kids trying to race around the school in their mom's minivans. it was really funny.
and dale earnhardt jr can kiss my ass. he sucks. any fame hes gotten is because of his dad(i respect him, rest in peace)
