Re: fool the cops...

Thats playing with fire. I'm not sure (not a lawyer), but I imagine you have to sign a document stating that it is your car. Which means to get caught is similar to purgury(sp?). Kind of like lying in a testamony or in court. At the very least, its fraud.
Then again, if they don't check the VIN with the one he has on record at the DMV, theres no way to know the difference.
let us know how it goes... good luck.

Re: fool the cops...

i think u should be fine. my friend had the same ticket and went to court to tell them it was fixed and they didn't even look at the car... think about it from their perspective... they have a lot of other more important things to do than walk outside and check the tint on a car.

Re: fool the cops...

Haha it would more than likely work perfectly, but if you are like me than the one time that someone gets caught it would be you. I know that I would get caught, that is just my luck.
Good luck if you choose to try it. Let us know how it turns out.

Re: fool the cops...

also,

if u do that, what happens the next time u get pulled over for your windows. Wont the cop see that u had a fix-it fixed... If not soo, he will give u a fix-it, u'll fix it (the scheme or the real thing), get to the precinct, and won't they see that u previously came there with a fix it...

highly hypothetical, but if they register those things in their database with a key from ur plate no, theres a risk, isnt there...

Re: fool the cops...

I know a guy who got a ton of speeding tickets, his lawyer always got it changed to a fix-it ticket for a loud muffler. And they didn't say anything to him every time he went to court for it. So even if you get pulled over again, you could do the same thing again and they probably wouldn't even catch on.

How in the world did he do that?

Re: fool the cops...

He just had lunch with the district attorney and talked him into changing it. I got a ticket for doing a 79 in a 65 and my lawyer did a similar thing; he got it lowered to a non-moving violation. So instead of getting points on my license it was like I just ran a stop sign. I had to pay $130 for the ticket and lawyer fees but that was fine by me.

Re: fool the cops...

Yea, I got a speeding ticket going 85 in a 45, and I've been trying to figure out what I can do with it... My court date is the 25th, and I still haven't found out if I can get out of it, or if I just have to suck it up.

Well not sure of the laws by you but around here if you get one you just have to have a reciept from a mechanic or something saying that it was fixed when you go to your court date. you don't even have to bring your car.... definitely helps to know a mechanic. As far as a tint related fix-it i'm not sure because I doubt many people will take thier car to a mechanic to peel off tint.

oh and as far as the speeding ticket dropped to a fix-it. well every ticket i've ever gotten has been dropped to something. My first (85 in a 55) was dropped to a no blinker at stop light or something. And another that I had (75 in a 55) the cop didn't even bother to write up as speeding because I was polite, He just gave me a "driver's view obstructed" ticket because I had an air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror.

Well itsn't that just dandy! Every speeding ticket I have gotten has had absolutely no drop to it. I got a ticket for 51 in a 35 and I asked them if they could drop it to a 49 in a 35 so that I would not get any points. They said that they can't do that, WTF I know for a fact that they do it all the time, it was just 2 stupid MPH that they needed to drop. Errr I hate it, that is they way things go for me though, that is why I would not try it b/c I would get caught. See what I was saying about my luck, I have crap for luck and you guys have a huge pot of gold for luck.

slap about a half dozen or so PBA stickers on the car and you should be fine. I've been pulled over 3 times since I had the stickers on and not one ticket. the police either don't bother to stop you once they see them or they just give you a warning.
