Montana sv6 Whistling Noise

Anybody have a 2005 Montana that makes a whistling noise on acceleration, the noise is very high pitched, took it to the dealer, they said they are all doing it, they dont know what is it yet, just wondering if anyone else has this problem and knows what it is.Other than that the van runs great.

Just a thought. Do you have the crossbars for the roof rack? If so, it could be them, try sliding them all the way back

no there are no crossbars, but thanks for the help, the van makes the noise when in drive with the brake applied and given slight acceleration also, sounds like its coming from fuel injector if thats possible.

Cool Montana SV6 Wind Noise

I purchased a 2005 Montana SV6 Thanksgiving week and currently have 7,500 miles on the vehicle. I previously owned a 1998 Montana and put 206,000 miles without any trouble or rebuilds etc. The new Montana however, has an annoying 'wind noise' that develops at speed on the open road; kind of a low whistling or moaning sound coming from the front windshield / hood area. It seems to be more prevalent in a cross wind!?! The noise does not occur at low speed; only out on the freeway, which is unfortunately where I spend most of my time. My old Montana never had this noise, but was also shaped differently in the front. I also notice that the driver's side wiper blade sticks up above the edge of the hood; could that be catching the wind & creating a noise? What about the Onstar GPS antenna above the driver's side? Any thoughts?
I have experienced flickering dash lights at night and a rough idle (I suspect a shorting spark plug wire).

flickering light

Dlink. Sorry to tell you, but the flickering dash lights are a problem with the new GM 05 vans. Someone on another board posted the service notice to the dealers reguarding this issue. GM is working on fix for this problem.

dlink
i have the flickering dash lights, the headlights also flicker. GM says it is the alternator, and a new alternator will be out in mid Feb. to fix the problem.
I also have the whistling noise but the van does it standing still too, van in drive, brake applied, engine reved to 2000 rpms, at least that what the dealer did, the whistling is coming from under the hood somewhere, to this day they have not found it.

I created the 2005 sv6 vibration post and my dash lights flicker as well. I wonder if this is causing my power train/engine vibration, as I saw an article on a gmc sierra that the alternator was causing electrical signal noise that caused the transmission to shift hard.

If anyone else notices the engine/tranny vibration as noted on my post, please let the dealer know, as GM has told me that I am the first to complain, however they know it is a common problem.

dlink,
Where did either you or the dealer get the info that a new alternator will be out mid Feb. My dealer wasn't aware of this.

I get the same thing. It will be almost impossible to get the dealer to reproduce.

Any word on that alternator fix for the flickering lights yet?

Thumbs up Fix for Montana SV6 Whistling Noise

There is now a fix for the whistling noise in Montana SV6. Contact your dealership. I had my vehicle fixed on June 21st.

The whistling noise occurred in my vehicle, when accelerating and the KPH is between 30 and 40 (or 18 to 24 MPH).

Whistling noise is now occurring at high speed

After the dealership fixed the whistling noise, which was occurring at low speed, I sometimes hear a higher pitched whistling noise, when driving at high speed (e.g., highway driving).

Re: Montana sv6 Whistling Noise

I've had this on my 2004 since I bought it. Dealer could never find it. Mine is at higher speeds and drives me nuts. It is no longer under warranty so anyone know what the "fix" supposedly was/is?

Re: Montana sv6 Whistling Noise

I have a 2004 Montana, and I had a whistle at highway speeds. The dealer put a double sided tape on the pillar between the door and the windshield. That seemed to take care of the whistle noise, but I still get a lot of wind noise. They told me that it is caused by the aero dynamics of the van. There is even a SCV (speed-compensated volume) button. As you increase your speed, it automatically turns up the volume on the radio to make up for the road and wind noise as you drive. CBM MONTANA

I just bought a 00 montana and when i get up to speed and especially when its windy it seems there is a lot of wind/road noise the comes from the passenger side dash area. I checked to see if the filters were installed and they were. But it's definitely from that side of the van and it simply sounds like there is an opening to the outside somewhere. Any ideas?

I can't find your post ace395a.
