help car won't start at all

Ok, so I drove around 100km today (it did snow quite a bit), parked it for a couple hours, then get in the car, turn the key and nothing. Not even the ticking sound of a dead starter... The interior lights of the dashboard didn't even light on. So, I checked the battery, everything was fine. Then, I started to waggle the key in the ignition and then sometimes I would here a ticking sound and the lights would come on. And then nothing if I tried to start it. The radio went into safe mode, the clock went back to 1200. I can't even lock or unlock the car. Help!

Do a search in ignition switch & see how many '97's have had them fail. It's a very common problem, some were under recall.
