4wd problem...maybe?

Hi, I just had my battery replaced on my 98 Blazer and the 4x4 wasn't working before I swapped batteries and now it is. I drove it to school just fine, and when I started it up to go home it felt like all the brakes were locked and was chirping around corners which I figured was something with the 4wd...I didn't drive it home obviously, just back to a parking spot.

My friend said it sounds like it's stuck between 4wd and 2wd, and I got it to a chevy dealership...gotta see what they say tomorrow. Just wondering what you guys' opinions are.

On my 89 model , the unit that engages the front differtial is under the battery . There are vac hoses running around the battery tray and some of mine are worn. Is it posible the person installing the battery could have fixed a vac line for you . Or do you have the push button on the dash? in that case your computer may have to be reset after the power was removed. Robert

I have the push button in the dash...still waiting to hear from the dealership though. They may of reconnected the vac lines, not sure, and I'll see about resetting the comp...thanks.

If the indicator is functioning properly, I would check the vacuum switch on the transfer case which supplies vacuum to the front actuator which engages the front axle. Sounds like your front axle may not be disengaging. Just a guess.

ya, the dealership is checking all that so with any luck it'll be fixed pretty easily...just wanted to know what they'll most likely be doing to it, thanks.
