Drive shaft CV joint Bronco II
Bronco II 4x4 I am not familiar with CV type universal joints have found out how expensive they are around here thou. My problem is that when I start off more so uphill and to the right in first and second gear there is a grumbling noise coming from around the rear end area and can fell it a little in the shifter it’s a five speed by the way and was wondering how hard would it be and if it is possible to repack them. Am planning to change all the fluids

Also so is there an easy way to retrieve the codes and do a complete reset I have disconnected the ground for a few minutes to dump the volatile memory and the last ten cycles.

I don't know about the CV joints...but the codes are a bit easier. You can do it the "low-tech" way with an Ohm-Meter. Plug in the red and black leads into the Computer receptacle in the engine bay. Run the Test as necessary, collect the codes, turn it off, run the test again, and cut the engine off mid-cycle. (That clears the codes-when you disconnect the battery, it also clears the codes, but it loses the running data at the same time so the engine may be crazy for awhile.)
You'll notice I haven't mentioned where to stick the leads into the receptacle (There are no less than 5 holes.) The reason for this is that in order for the codes to be of any service, you would need a manual that tells you which code goes for which problem. And the (complete) manual I have that tells you this comes when you purchase the code reader. (it's about $40 bucks for mine. it shouldn't be more than $70 now.) If you get a Haynes manual, it has information about running the test, and an incomplete list of codes. |

Thanks TRUCK for the info will give it a go looked at the plug for the hook up and its a bit corroded. But I can see it in a better light now Haynes book came with the Truck but it is a bit vague.
