Shock Question?
I have the higher in Gabrial LT Shocks. The best (or better) ones are painted white. Anyway, what would cause the lower part of the shock to separate from the rubber bushing?
The design is such that a steal bushing, which the bold goes through, is aobut 2-1/4", and the rubber bushing is about 1-1/4". This leaves 1/2" of space on either side. However, if the shock separates from the rubber part it can slide to one end and not work properly...and/or make noise. What would cause this? I'm not the origional owner, but my guess is that it was either driven on a lot of dirt roads in TX (ranches) or Mexico. Or you all can tell me that Gabrial Shocks have a known problem of separating. Just curious.... |

I'm not sure why this occured, but I can tell you that when I replaced the OEM's with Gagriel Steady Rider LT's I noticed they are way to stiff for my 96 4-door. It is so bad that the interior screws are starting to loosen up! I would not replace with that brand. I am going to put Autozone specials on just to get rid of the Lumber Wagon ride quality.

What is recommended
I have a 99 LS blazer and would like to replace the OEM's with a steady but good ride...don't want the lumber wagon routine, a nice smooth premium ride...any recommendations...? Bilsteins etc?

Put the Monroe Reflex shocks on my 4WD S-10 truck. Gave the truck a firm, but still comfortable ride. I am really happy with them. I think they were about $40.00 to $45.00 each at Advance Autoparts.

Re: Shock Question?
The Monroe Reflex are really good shocks, I've tried the Gabriels and didn't like them at all. I'd go with the Reflex.... NAPA sells them.

Re: Shock Question?
Quote:
It could be caused by many things but in some cases it could be worn out shock bolts.
