Temperature Sender

Does anyone know if the temperature sender unit is the same for the n/a and the turbo?

also is it a "wet" sensor or is it in a thermowell? like if i unscrew it to change it is all the water gonna come out of my radiator?

toyota say they have a turbo sensor for $198 but the local parts shop has a bosch one for the n/a at $14, so if it's the same part, i know which i'd rather get!

Re: Temperature Sender

There are several temp senders, make sure you know which one you are talking about.

There is one for the gauge and there is one for the ECU. The one for the gauge will allow coolant to come out if you replace it.

the one for the ecu i guess, bottom right on radiator, the one that when you pull it the fans come on.

Re: Temperature Sender

That is not the one for the ECU, that is entirely different. There are many "temp sensors" on the car. There is also a temp sensor to turn the intercooler fan on.

I do not know the answer to your question ~ soryr.

Re: Temperature Sender

haha WOO HOO! i'm gonna know something that you do't know! that'll be a first.

had a look at the sensor last night, just looks like a bolt with an o-ring to use as a washer, not sure if thats to act as a seal or just to keep it from vibrating loos. so still no sure how it's gonna go... i might get wet! will probably do it in a week or so when i get the time (in case it lets all the water out), till then i'm gonna just leave the fans running. Will let you know how it goes.
