Solution to my gtp problem found!!

I posted earlier about my car having problems at start up w/ not getting enough gas etc. Big-L told me it was my MAF sensor and sure enough he was dead on. (I cleaned it wrong the 1st time :\ ) I talked to my local gm dealer about it and he said the reason the MAF gets so dirty all the time was because I was running a K&N air filter through it. I guess any kind of air filter that is oil based will clog up the MAF time and again which causes the sensor to read wrong and makes your car do weird stuff. So thanks to Big-L for your advice, you're the man!

Re: Solution to my gtp problem found!!

Glad I could help and everything is OK.How is the throttle response???...If you over oil the filter that can cause that problem. It only takes a lite coat of oil on the filter and dont get in a hurry to reinstall it.Give it some time for the oil to soak into the gauze.

Angry Re: Solution to my gtp problem found!!

Actually yes the throttle is a lot better. But I have another problem now ;( The car idles at like 2-2.5 rpm for some reason. I cleaned the MAF and let dry, cleaned the one to the left of it (? it has a spring in it ?) and I took off the one below that too to check it out and saw that it was clean and put it back on. I did notice that on the last one i had to turn the sensor to the right so it would go on right. It almost seemed like an idle control (thinking as I'm writing ;D) or something maybe. But anyways after all of this and putting it back together When I start it up it idles really high, not like it used to (a little below 1000 rpm). Any ideas on what I did wrong??? Thanks in advance!

did you possibly damage you IAC valve, or maybe jam it. I hope you didn't push or pull the pintle valve. That may it though.
