noob starts car on fire

My brother came home from school today and said there was a fire in an apartment parking lot. The kids car had a 'system' of some kind-most likely just a sub. I know the guy who installed it and he is the dumbest man in the world. On his personal vehicle:
16awg ground for an RF amp with 4awg power wire
Upgraded above wire to 8awg
No fuse off the battery
handles live power wires constantly
plays a clipped signal all day long
runs a bandpass box

I can only imagine what he was willing to let slide on someone else's vehicle. Worst part is he puts in many people's stuff; two others i know of.

I Handle Live power wires...now live wires from an amp is a different story (if they are shorted it can ruine the amp and the voltage coming form some amps is well in excess of 100v. Sure it isnt voltage that kills you but its voltage that flows current...and current is what hurts)
If a bandpass box is correctly built and integrated into they stereo it is the most efficent in its frequincy range except for a TL.
As for the rest... the guy is a dumbass.

Re: noob starts car on fire

He sounds like the kind of guy that if you showed him any halfway decent setup, he would be all on your nuts praising your car audio genius. See people like that, instead of realizing that they suck ass, they will try to put you up on this huge plateau like you are the greatest, because that is what it would take to do anything better than them. I guarantee thats what he would do. You should do that, and then all his little sophomore friends that think bandpass is the most advanced car audio technology will all look up to you and you could start a car audio posse and they will all call you king.

and why the hell would you buy a prebuilt box for 10s, and then cut it for 12's? LOL... man... what a moron.
