Re: installing lsd??

What has been the most indepth project you have tackled on your car? For example what mechanically have you done, the most indepth or hardest. ie: changing spark plugs, changing oil, pulling the head off, rebuilding the motor, etc etc.

Re: installing lsd??

exactly what i was gonna ask green. i didnt think they had come out with the gsr lsd yet.

from what i hear the gsr trans lsd install is different than regular ls or b16 trans lsd install. its harder.

I once installed some gas in my gas tank. And once i jacked up my car, then put jack stands under to keep it from falling. j/k

But seriously, rebuilding the motor, taking it completley apart to put new pistons&rods in, needed a little help w/ the head&tranny though, but if i were to do it again, i could do it by myself, might need someone on the side to ask a question here and there.

Then I think you could probably handle it then. I myself have not installed a LSD but I have taken many of trannies out and that will more than likely be the hardest part of the whole project.
Try looking at this article, it might help out.

Re: installing lsd??

I have installed several lsds and the hardest part for most people is getting the tranny case off. After that, you will have to remove all the internals and then you can remove the differential. As far a installing it, finding the corrrect shim was a little PITA.

Re: installing lsd??

All i have to say is take your time labeling...it will save your ass some day. I rebuilt an engine with a buddy of mine and he didn't label and ended up forgetting the little metal gasket between the block and tranny and we had to strip the engine down and pull it...again. LABEL!! Do it for me.

Re: installing lsd??

Do you have a Helms manual? If not I will scan all the pages from the tranny section and post them up for you to print off or just look at. That way you will have something to look at if you get lost.
