all power cuts off
All
I just brought and fixed a 94 talon auto, non turbo, 2.0L (timing and bent valves) I'm really happy. I 'm stumped now. the car ran great, no vibration, timing set good, good oil flow...everything. I took it out for a test drive a few days on close trips around the block and one night with the lights, and heat on and maybe the radio, I got to the stop sign And everything went black, no lights no nothing. I turned everytihing off, put the car in park, and all the lights start dimming up. the car starts back up no problem and I drive back home. what's up I thought? Alternater...right I pulled the alt. last night and got it tested at Oreilly. test comes out fine between 12 - 15 volts. NOW what. any Ideas thanks in advance by the way the battery is new too madaddy |

Re: all power cuts off
You probably blew your alternater fuse... Look under the hood and see if you can find it. If that wasnt it post up again and let us know.

I found 2 fuses, 1 was the reg. type which was fine. the other a black cube type, I pulled it and looked it over. How do you check that?
I talked to a friend last night. The alternator is wet around the casing. when replacing the Tb and Valves. I loosened the Power steering and fluid spilled on the alt. Could that fluid have got into the alt and now causing a "dead spot" from within. Anyboy got alternater rebuild experience? I might try and open it up tonight and take a gander thanks for the quick response! |

Problem SOLVED!!!! I found a ground wire routed from the radio the the rear of the car. The wire got tangled in the track of the seat and bare wire was touching metal, in return causeing a short. |
