The blower relay switch keeps blowing the wire harness is melting because it has blown 3 times. When it blows it's just the high posistion that dosen't work. The last time it blew I was driving down the road @ 70 mph with the ac on and the blower started to slow and then it just blew!
Heres what I have done so far. Replaced the, blower motor and resistors, neither smelled or did not work these were just suggestions, that they may be affecting the current/draw/amperage and blowing the relay. Someone said it could be a bad ground but where the heck is the ground located?? Could it be that I have already fixed the problem and the wire harness is giving me problems cause it's melted and singed/black(I tried scraping it with small flat head driver)? If so, how/where do I get a new wire harness from and if I do how would I install it with wire butt connectors inline? Please help |

Hello Inze,
I have almost the same problem with the same year S-10 (1996). I have a question for you.... where exactly is the relay for the heater? I think I remember it being one of the 3 on the firewall??? Also where is the resistor pack located? I too was told it could be a bad ground somewhere but that leaves me scratching my head as it seems it could be anywhere. My problem now is that I am getting no heat or air. Blower motor not kicking on. It worked fine for a long time, then the air went to the default defrost/floor vents for awhile, then stopped working altogether. Hope you get yours fixed! I know how frustrating it is especially when it is freezing outside! RWGreen |
