1998 Hyundai accent Tranny problem

My mother just recently bought a used Hyundai accent. The tranny had been overhauled a 8 months ago for an overdrive problem. Well it still has that problem. The car will no go into overdrive. Running at 35mph it is tacking about 2.5. That is not right. So I of course am trying to figure out what maybe wrong, so that maybe my husband can fiqure it out! We went back to the place that did the tranny, they said it was electrical, but not what? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Becky

Re: 1998 Hyundai accent Tranny problem

I have seen this before.......how much money you got??? just kidding, they obviously already got you to spend more money on the car then it is worth.... push button overdrive, right? and the o/d light comes on and off in the display in the dash right? Then what you need to verify is that the ecu is also seeing this signal. You need to look at an electrical schmatic and check. I have found a broken wire causung this concern. and if that fixes the problem and the shop didnt want to fix it after u paid them to fix it???? Then it is your responsiblity to write the better business burea and report this fradulent shop and tell everyone they suck, word of mouth kills in the automotive biz Good luck
