my car is rollin' again!

finally got everything back together. as most of you already know i was in the process of replacing my clutch for my first time...everything went back together pretty smooth. once everything was back together and it was time to turn that key to start, i had a feeling it wouldn't start lol. tried starting it, it wanted to start but it just wouldn't. then i realized it was probably cause there was no fuel in the lines, so i switched it to off, then on, then off, then on, then off and then start. after a few seconds it finally started right up and held idle perfect. now that it started fine, i was hesitant on trying the clutch lol... put the clutch in, and it stuck to the floor! pulled it up, pumped it and it got stiffer. put clutch back in, threw it in first with no problem at all. went in smooth as butter. put it back in neutral, clutch out, then clutch in and threw it in reverse - no grinding! well that was fine, so i threw it in first again, started to let up on the clutch, and about 2 inches from the floor it started to grab! engage point was finally off the floor! (like my last clutch w/ the shattered t/o bearing and purple clutch disc). now the only problem i have is when you have it in neutral and the clutch is out and let it sit for like 10 seconds and try putting the clutch in, it sticks to the floor. you have to pump it to get it to come up...the slave cylinder is new, and so it the clutch dampner and whole clutch assembly. i'm thinking it's the master cylinder? i'm gonna look for a master on ebay. does anyong know if it IS the master? because right before i started to tear my tranny out, it did this too. other than that, everything else is perfect!

Bleed your clutch... It shouldnt have gone to the floor like that unless there is air in the system! Get a couple of people and bleed it good, no need to risk messing up a new clutch right away.

Re: my car is rollin' again!

i tried bleeding it when everything was back together...normally - how many times do you bleed it? like, how many times whould i have the person push the clutch and open the bleeder valve? also, i usually have someone fill the master cylinder every 2 bleeds....

Was the car up on jack stands still? Usually you should bleed it until there is a straight good stream of fluid that comes out. Open bleeder, push clutch, close bleeder, bring clutch back up, pump it a little. Repeat as needed. Never bring the pedal back up with the bleeder open.

Re: my car is rollin' again!

ok i finally got a good clutch pedal pressure....it's not mushy and doesn't stick now. but the only thing is, i noticed the clutch only goes down to maybe 2 inches off the floor and stops...the clutch still engages/disengages perfectly fine though...i tried adjusting it a little (freeplay/engage point) and still didn't enable me to push the clutch all the way to the floor...know what this could be from?
