96' park avenue engine dies while driving

Two week ago I had the oil changed and the fuel filter replaced on my Park Avenue, since then the engine has cut out four times while I'm driving -- a real drag while on the freeway. I lose power to the lights, wind shield wipers, radio and the clock resets. I can pull over and immediately restart the car (requires some pumping on the gas) and it runs fine if I keep the radio off. I took it into a dealership and their first guess was that the fuel filter needs to be replaced. Any other options, ideas, etc.

well, even it the fuel filter was dirty to the point of not letting any fuel go and stall the engine, you would still have power to the radio, lights and so on.
os it has to be something else.. although changing the fuel filter is you never done it would still be a good idea.

I don't know much about electrical systems, but we know we can trace it down to some major element of the electrical system, since everything shuts down temporarily. I find it amusing that the dealership mentioned fuel filter. I think it's something that channels electrical power to all systems, such as the computer, or connections running to and from the computer. If it's always just a split second power outage, it's probably not the connections. Otherwise it could be that a certain wire is getting too hot. But then the down time would be much longer.

96' Park Avenue engine dies

Turns out that the connector to the battery had a build up of dried battery acid on it which as causing an intermmitent electrical short. I took the car into my local mechnic who was able to immediately identify the problem. He cleaned the connectors and didn't charge me a dime. It runs like a champ now.
