2000 Jimmy Door Dropping

When I open my driver's side door it drops and I was just curious how I would go about fixing that. In my old car you would have just tightened the bolts on the hinges but since this car uses pins I am a little less than useless. Sorry I suck at this kind of stuff so any help would be appreciated.

The hinge pins and bushings will have to be replaced.

It is a fairly easy job, but is much easier with the correct tools.

Might end up being cheaper and less knuckle busting to have a shop do it that has done a few of them.

What all would be involved? I am pretty smart and can do most of it I just need directions.

I just did one of mine a couple of weeks ago.
I think I spent six bux on one at O'reilly's. It was a pain but not enuf that I would send it to a shop.

I used a crowbar, flathead screwdriver, a punch and a hammer.
Get some help if you can. You can do it yourself, but I really needed another set of hands. The hardest part was getting the spring out.

You might want to check the other doors also. My passenger side is going to need it soon, too.

I'm thinking of doing mine as well, it's a 97 and it's getting a bit tired. What did you need the crowbar for? Attitude adjustment hehe ?

Someone told me they jacked their door up and it worked fine. Anyone try that? I think if you jacked it up you may just end up loosening it further, and bending things would not be good.........

I hadn't thought about giving it an attitude adjustment! I sure felt like it.
The crowbar was for prying the spring out of the door. I wanted leverage on my side

You can buy a door spring compressor for about 10 bux...Forget using a prybar...
